About Dr. Brooks

I am a Post-Doctoral Resident in the state of Florida and completed my Doctoral training in Clinical Psychology at Nova Southeastern University. I have years of experience providing individual and group therapy to clients ranging in age from early childhood to older adults. I am passionate about helping people live a life that is meaningful and fulfilling while learning how to co-exist with uncertainty and distress. I specialize in treating obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), body focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs: skin picking, hair pulling), eating and feeding disorders (anorexia, bulimia, ARFID, BED), anxiety disorders (generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic disorder), mood disorders (depression, bipolar I and II), as well as women’s issues, relational issues, and life transitions or difficult adjustments.

I am a Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) therapist that uses Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), as well as interpersonal and mindfulness-based approaches. I work to implement a values and strengths-based philosophy that encourages you to emphasize your positive qualities and build goals that contribute to a more meaningful life. Through an approach tailored to meeting you and your unique needs effectively, my goal is to help you establish a lifestyle that is both beneficial and transformative.

I work with clients from diverse backgrounds and recognize the significance of understanding and honoring your culture, along with how this may impact your perception of therapy. I am an ally of the LGBTQ community and practice from an affirming and inclusive standpoint. My therapy style involves holding an environment that is warm, collaborative, supportive, and focused on enhancing your growth. It is important to me that you feel understood and empowered to live in a way that is true to yourself.

I consistently utilize mindfulness and cognitive behavioral approaches in my own life and have gained enormous benefits through an intentional practice. I am eager to share the knowledge I have gained through my years of psychological work, experience, and training to aid individuals who are searching for answers and solutions.

I am passionate about being active in mental health advocacy and am also a group facilitator for the National Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness. I hold leadership positions in the Florida Psychological Association Palm Chapter and the OCD and Eating Disorders Special Interests Group (SIG) through the IOCDF.
